چکیده

System of Rice Intensification (SRI) management practices depart from conventionallyrecommended methods for rice cultivation, aiming to provide rice plants with optimal growing conditions, to enhance yield and resource productivity (Stoop et al. 2002). The benefits of SRI practices have been seen already in 42 countries and are reported to increase yields of irrigated rice by 25–50% or even more (Ceesay et al. 2006; Chapagain and Yamaji 2010; Kabir and Uphoff 2007; Namara et al. 2008; Sato and Uphoff 2007; Satyanarayana et al. 2007; Sinha and Talati 2007; Thakur et al. 2010b; Tsujimoto et al. 2009; Zhao et al. 2010). However, little is known about how SRI practices affect rice plants’ morphology, their physiology, and their implications on crop performance. This investigation undertook to assess, through standard agronomic methods, what if any phenotypical changes would be induced by changes in management practices.

The relationships between carbon isotope discrimination and photosynthesis and rice yield under shading

The measurement of carbon isotope discrimination (∆) provides an integrated insight into theresponse of plants to environmental change. To investigate the potential use of ∆ for identifyingshade tolerance in rice, five rice varieties were selected and artificially shaded (53% lightreduction) during the grain-filling period in 2010 and 2011, in Sichuan, China. Shadingtreatment had a significant ...

Physiological processes associated with high yield traits in modern rice varieties

Understanding the physiological processes associated with high yield traits in modern cropvarieties is essential to further increase grain yield and improve nutrient management strategies.Field trials were conducted to study the effects of fertilization and variety on the grain yield ofrice (Oryza sativa L.) with two fertilizer levels and 18 modern varieties. The objectives were toevaluate yiel...

Rice Yield and the Fate of Fertilizer Nitrogen as Affected by Addition of Earthworm Casts Collected from Oilseed Rape Fields: A Pot Experiment

The mechanism associated with improvement of soil nutritional status by oilseed rape crop, leading to better performance of rice crop, in rice-oilseed rape cropping systems is little known. The present study was aimed to test the hypothesis that earthworm casts produced during oilseed rape-growing season have positive effects on grain yield and fertilizer nitrogen (N) utilization in the subsequ...

Identification of main and epistatic QTLs for grain yield related traits in a recombinant inbred lines population of rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Rice yield as a complex trait is the main target in most rice breeding programs. To map the main and epistatic QTLs controlling grain yield and yield components, an experiment was carried out using a 129 F6 recombinant inbred lines population (IRA population) originated from a cross between Alikazemi / IR67017-180-2-1-2, in 2015 growing season in two locations, Rasht and Tonekabon, Iran.  The e...
